90’s Classic
This design is inspired by 1990s Black fashion, drawing from the bold, expressive style that defined the era. With my target market in mind, I wanted to create a look that would resonate with an Atlanta local who loves ’90s R&B and hip-hop culture. The design balances a girly, feminine energy with the edge of leather, reflecting the duality of softness and strength often seen in iconic Black style moments of the decade.

Purpose: The purpose of this garment was to create a formal but edgy look inspired by 90's fashion.
Design Process: While designing, I decided to make no adjustments to the jacket pattern assigned and instead chose a unique fabric and added a bow detail to make it still meet my target market. For the pants, I turned them into shorts to achieve an edgy look and added a waistband to create a more tapered look.
Materials: The main fabric featured on the shell is a shiny, almost metallic cotton fabric. I wanted the fabric to be comfortable yet still have an edgy, unique look. I then chose a black 100% polyester lining fabric to create a cohesive look. As a finishing detail, I added a black pleather bow to tie this project together with my previous project.

office hibernation
Office Hibernation is an office wear collection inspired by designer brand, Brandon Maxwell. He is known for his elegant and sophisticated designs. He uses classic styles but also adds his own edge to his designs, consistently having well-structured and edgy printed garments. While creating this, my partner and I kept in mind the materials and silhouettes used in his F/W 2025 Collection, as well as our target market. We wanted to reflect a New York professional woman who looks for garments that can be transformed from daywear to nightwear.

“Damsel,” the girl on the run… “Damsel” is a character inspired by 101 Dalmatians, reimagining the iconic Cruella de Vil archetype. In this version, she's a fugitive villainess who survives by slipping into new identities-- often posing as a helpless damsel in distress. She is constantly on the run, using deception, disguise, and dramatic flair to stay one step ahead. After seeing the beautiful spotted fabric, I knew instantly that I needed to create something bold with it.

Sweet Chariot
Sweet Chariot is a tribute to the experiences, memories, and resilience of growing up Black while navigating societal expectations. It explores the duality of identity — the tension between conformity and self-expression — and celebrates the beauty, creativity, and individuality that define Black girlhood. Through luxe streetwear silhouettes, textured fabrics, and symbolic details, the collection draws inspiration from the language of Black hair, childhood nostalgia, and cultural touchstones that resonate across generations. Ruched textiles reference protective styles, voluminous shapes mirror the fullness of natural hair, and contrasting structures reflect the push and pull between external pressures and inner freedom. More than fashion, this collection is a love letter to community and identity. It honors the struggles and joys of Black girlhood while inviting all women to embrace authenticity, self-definition, and the unapologetic power of being comfortable in their own skin.
